The Nu-Derm System — Total Skin Transformation
Total skin transformation. That's what Obagi calls it. It's the twice daily prescription-strength system that you apply morning and evening to repair the effects of photodamage caused by the sun's harmful ultraviolet A and B rays (UVA and UVB), which cause most of the signs of aging — wrinkles and fine lines — along with other harsh elements, including pollutants, in the environment.
At the cellular level, your skin renews itself by creating new cells and purging the older ones, a process we call "cell turnover." But, exposure to the sun's UV A&B rays dramatically slows the skin's ability to turnover skin cells, and to slough off the older cells, which in turn contributes to the development of fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven coloring called hyperpigmentation ("freckles," when you were a kid). Fine lines and wrinkles 
happen as we age anyway, but UV rays accelerate the process.
The Nu-Derm system comprises 7 products that take you through the transformation process from A-to-Z, starting with the face wash and ending with proper, FDA-approved UV protection. By design, the Nu-Derm system:
- Slows down melanocyte production (pigmentation)
- Increases cell turnover rate, producing more new, healthy cells
- Increases the slough rate of dead cells through aggressive exfoliation
- Protects against future exposure to harmful UVA and UVB rays
